Tier 1 & Tier 2 Scholarship Application

This application is for a Tier 1 Sport Australia Hall of Fame Scholarship. Any unsuccessful Tier 1 applicant will automatically be considered first for a Tier 2, then Tier 3 Scholarship. You do not need to complete another form.


This application must be completed by the athlete themselves. If a third party is required to complete the application, this must be acknowledged at the end of the form, noting who completed the form, and the reason for doing so.


If you wish to save the application and complete it later, please email a copy of the link to your preferred email address, noting:

  • Upon resuming the application, you will be taken back to the start of the form and there may be some fields blank

  • Please be understanding if this does occur, sometimes there are faults in technology and SAHOF will not be able to recover

  • You will still need to complete and submit the application prior to the due date

All applications must be submitted by  11:59pm on Sunday, June 30, 2024. Applications received after this time will not be considered.

4. a) Marketing/Social Media

Please submit a 45-60 second video featuring the Scholarship applicant and providing information about them, why they love their sport and how the Scholarship Program and having a Mentor will benefit the Scholarship applicant.

Please note - this video can be recorded by the applicant using their phone. It is simply for the Selection Committee to be able to put a face to a name and get to know you a little better. The video is an essential part of the application process and applications submitted without a video will not be considered.

Financials

Please note: funds can be spent on sport related travel, medical (out of pocket of health insurance, etc.), sport-specific clothing and equipment, gym fees, coaching fees, competition fees, sport registration fees, and educational expenses will be considered. Full terms and conditions will be supplied upon successful application.

Terms and Conditions, Assessment Criteria, Declaration

7.a) Terms and Conditions

Please read the following terms and conditions carefully:

To be eligible for consideration for acceptance into the SAHOF Scholarship & Mentoring Program the following conditions must be met:

Nominations are open to all sportspersons who meet the following criteria:

  1. Be an Australian Citizen (residents cannot apply)

  2. Be between the ages of 15 – 21 as of December 31 of the year applying

  3. Be a participant in a sport recognised by either Sport Australia, the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) and/or Paralymoics Australia

  4. Have competed at International junior level or National senior level in their chosen sport (where applicable)

  5. Be a member of the Australian junior or senior squad/team in their chosen sport (where applicable)

  6. Applicants who apply for both Tier 1 and Tier 2 will be considered for Tier 1 first, Tier 2 if unsuccessful in Tier 1, then automatically considered for Tier 3 should they be unsuccessful for Tier and Tier 2.

  7. The applicant must complete the form themselves. No third party can apply on the applicant’s behalf (if the applicant is overseas or unavailable, a third party can apply on their behalf and must provide reason).

Previous Scholarship Holders are encouraged to re-apply providing they meet the Program Eligibility Criteria.

7.b) 

Assessment

A Scholarship applicant acknowledges and agrees to the following:

  • The application is not a guarantee, acceptance or approval of being awarded a Scholarship.   

  • Each application will be considered in the context of its alignment with the evidence of need and clarity of how the funds will be used, use of Mentor (if applicable) along with a non-biased, fair and consistent selection process which considers all sports (Olympic/non-Olympic, Paralympic/non-Paralympic, professional), genders, rankings, etc.  

  • A successful applicant will be notified via email or phone along with instructions for acceptance.

  • A successful applicant must accept, in writing, all terms and conditions including signing the Scholarship Agreement before being eligible to receive Scholarship funds and all other associated benefits.
