Congratulations on your selection as a Sport Australia Hall of Fame (SAHOF) Tier 3 Scholarship Holder.

SAHOF’s Vision is to preserve and celebrate the history of Australian Sport and to inspire all Australians to achieve their potential both in sport and life.

A key focus for us in achieving our Vision is the Scholarship & Mentoring Program (S&MP). The S&MP is designed to assist young Australians to achieve success at the highest level of their sport, and will do so by providing you encouragement, support, and funding for the next 12-14 months.

It is important that you understand your role as an athlete under the spotlight and the effect it can have on your growing career. SAHOF will be here to help guide you through these processes.

Following is information about your responsibilities as a SAHOF Scholarship Holder, including the SAHOF Scholarship fact sheet, and S&MP Agreement that must be signed and submitted at the end.

This is a binding contract with a lot of information so please ensure you take the time to read and understand the entire agreement.

This agreement can be saved and completed at a later date. Please note you will be taken back to the start and some fields may not save. If you do wish to save and complete later, please ensure you email yourself the link.


Terms, Conditions, Image Use, Intellectual Property, Drug Declaration and Agreement

Scholarship Holder details (NOT parents or guardians) as per passport.

This document provides formal confirmation of your successful application for the 2024 Sport Australia Hall of Fame (SAHOF) Scholarship & Mentoring Program (S&MP), Tier 3.   

As a Scholarship Holder, you have effectively become an honorary Member of SAHOF from the day of signing through to December 31, 2024. Upon signing this agreement, you are bound by the following Terms & Conditions. Once you fully understand the contents, please sign where requested.

Failure to meet any of the conditions may result in immediate termination of your SAHOF Scholarship with any remaining benefits forfeited. Dependent on the severity of the breach, SAHOF reserves the right to seek full repayment from you of any Scholarship Grant monies acquitted.

, in accepting this Scholarship and becoming a member of the S&MP for 2024, agree to observe and abide by the following terms and conditions, including those regarding image use and intellectual property obligations.

Having been invited to accept the SAHOF Scholarship, and by accepting, I acknowledge and agree that SAHOF can conditionally use my image for the promotion of the S&MP.

I agree to observe both the Anti-Doping Policy and Code of Conduct applicable to my sport and understand the associated consequences if I breach either of these policies.

Whilst representing SAHOF, my sport and the community in general, I pledge courtesy, sincerity, professionalism, efficiency and above all, total honesty.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS, IMAGE USE, INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY & DRUG DECLARATION

SAHOF recognises that each Member’s reputation is paramount, and that Members may have individual commercial commitments. SAHOF will always use its best endeavours to promote each Member and Relevant Sporting Organisation (RSO). This will also apply to S&MP Scholarship Holders.

  • The Scholarship Holder will:

    • Provide all agreements and relevant documentation by their due dates.

    • Upon submitting your final financial reimbursement, you must submit a report (template will be emailed separately post signing agreement). This must be emailed to katie.craig@sahof.org.au no later than December 10, 2024. Content will provide valuable updates for the SAHOF Board, may be used for marketing and media purposes (if not personal or confidential) and assists SAHOF with identifying areas the Scholarship Holder may need further assistance with and the Program itself.

    • Promote SAHOF and associated sponsors through all social media platforms, websites and wherever else possible, by tagging and acknowledging all of the above. It is expected that whilst competing in events, you will upload pictures and updates onto social media and/or send through to SAHOF.

    • Permit SAHOF to publish/permit/cause to be published/reproduced any information and photographs of the Scholarship Holders sporting career and achievements. This publication will be for the purpose of promoting SAHOF or to provide information to the general public about the Scholarship Holder. Such information will not be used for commercial purposes without the Scholarship Holder’s consent.

    • Permit SAHOF to publish/permit/cause to be published/reproduced the likeness, name, voice, signature, and reputation of the Scholarship Holder as being a recipient of a S&MP Scholarship.

    • Reproduce the SAHOF S&MP logo on competition and/or training clothing and gear as agreed upon by SAHOF and the Scholarship Holder.

    • Provide personal assistance and support to promote SAHOF, its sponsors and Australia’s sporting heritage, except where and to the extent, the Scholarship Holder reasonably believes that a conflict exists between the sponsors of SAHOF and the Scholarship Holder.

    • Not reproduce for commercial gain any material discussed, communicated, or provided by Members of SAHOF through the S&MP.

    • Immediately advise SAHOF if you are entering into an exclusive sponsor or commercial arrangement with a conflicting sponsor to that of SAHOF’s Sponsors and/or Program Supporters.

    • Immediately advise SAHOF if for any reason, including retirement or injury, you cannot continue with your sport.


  • SAHOF agrees that subject to the Scholarship Holder’s compliance with these Terms and Conditions

    • SAHOF will assist where possible to help the Scholarship Holder achieve their sporting goals.

    • No Scholarship Holder will be committed to any activity without their prior consent and unless specifically agreed by the Scholarship Holder.

    • No sponsor of SAHOF may use a Scholarship Holder or their likeness, name, voice, signature or reputation as signifying the personal endorsement of that Scholarship Holder to the sponsor or its products or services without prior consultation and agreement of the Scholarship Holder.


  • Grant Expenditure

    • The $2,500 (ex GST) Scholarship grant must be used for reimbursement of expenses relating wholly to the Scholarship Holder’s sporting career and in some cases, educational purpose.

      Claimable items include:

      • Travel

        • Flights, accommodation, ground transport, insurance (including those who need to travel with you as a carer)

        • Capped meal reimbursement; sporting competition or training

        • Visa's

        • Petrol (training/competitions)

        • Some car expenses will be considered (registration, insurance etc). 

      • Medical

        • Out of pocket medical for; health insurance, sports massage, myotherapy, deep tissue massage, remedial massage, physiotherapy, psychology, podiatry.

        • Does not cover the likes of prescribed medication, check-ups etc.

      • Sport specific clothing (training and competition)

      • Sport specific equipment (eg: trailers for boats, headphones, watches, shoes, hurdles, surfboards, etc)

      • Gym fees, coaching fees, competition entry fees

      • Club/State/National insurance and registration

      • Educational expenses – will be considered

      • Short courses, media training, professional sponsorship writing, laptops (capped at $2,000)

      • Layne Beachley's Awake Academy

      • Other

        • A case can be proposed by outlining within the application and will be approved at the discretion of SAHOF.
          *Normal living expenses do not comply.


    • The period in which the Scholarship Holder may claim expense reimbursement is from return of completed and signed Scholarship agreement to no later than December 31, 2024. Any funds that have been approved and not claimed by this date will be forfeited unless already pre-approved by SAHOF.

    • All reimbursement requests must be submitted to finance@sahof.org.au with a completed and signed ‘Scholarship Acquittal Form’ (will be emailed separately upon return of signed agreement) along with a tax invoice/tax receipt from the original supplier as proof of expense incurred.

    • Should the Scholarship Holder have a major expense, SAHOF is prepared to pay the supplier directly provided this is discussed with SAHOF prior to the expense being incurred.

    • All expense reimbursement requests submitted to SAHOF must not have already been claimed through additional scholarship programs, sponsorship, funding, or alternate grants. SAHOF may make enquiries to ensure that this condition is met.

    • The successful Scholarship Holder must lodge grant monies received as a taxable income with the ATO.

  • General

    • In these Terms and Conditions, "Claim” means and includes any action, suit, proceeding, claim, demand, damage, penalty, cost or expense however arising including but not limited to negligence but does not include a claim against SAHOF by any person entitled to make a claim under a relevant and applicable SAHOF insurance policy.

    • In consideration of SAHOF accepting the Scholarship Holder into the S&MP, the Scholarship Holder;

      • releases and will release SAHOF, its directors, officers, Members, employees, agents and contractors from all Claims that they may have, or may have had, but for this release arising from or in connection with the Scholarship Holder’s participation in the S&MP.

      • indemnifies and will keep indemnified SAHOF its directors, officers, Members, employees, agents and contractors to the extent permitted by law in respect of any Claim by any person arising as a result of or in connection with the Scholarship’s Holder participation in the S&MP.

    • The Scholarship Holder acknowledges and agrees that SAHOF has certain insurances in place that may or may not cover them whilst they are participating in the S&MP. The Scholarship Holder should seek and take out additional insurance including ensuring their own private health insurance covers them whilst they are participating in the S&MP.

    • The Scholarship Holder consents to SAHOF using, disclosing, and storing their personal information in accordance with the SAHOF Privacy Policy.

    • The Scholarship Holder shall not;

      • do, or permit or suffer to be done, or omit to do, anything in relation to SAHOF, the S&MP or any other the event or activity of SAHOF, which disparages or would be likely to prejudice SAHOF, or bring SAHOF, or its intellectual property or its business, or the S&MP, into disrepute or ridicule or to expose SAHOF to any liability or potential  liability; and/or

      • engage in conduct, or make any representation, which may prejudice SAHOF.

    • SAHOF holds the right to not release grant monies until conditions have been met.

    • If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is invalid or unenforceable in any jurisdiction, the phrase or clause shall be read down for the purpose of that jurisdiction, if possible, so as to be valid and enforceable. If the phrase or clause cannot be so read down it will be severed to the extent of the invalidity or unenforceability of it in any other jurisdiction. Such severance does not affect the remaining provisions of this membership declaration or affect the validity or enforceability of it in any other jurisdiction.
